ISO 9001 is an international standard for quality management systems (QMS) that was first published by the ISO in 1987. The QMS standard provides a framework for managing quality and continuous improvement within an organization and its supply chain. Benefits include customer satisfaction and improved internal performance.
ISO 9001 outlines 321 requirements that organizations must comply with in order to achieve 3rd-party certification. The standard is reviewed every 5 years, and updated as needed, to ensure that it remains relevant and effective for organizations of all sizes and types. The 5th edition of the ISO 9001 was released in 2015, making the current version of the standard “ISO 9001:2015”. The standard was last reviewed and confirmed in 2021, therefore this version remains current until the next review around 2026.
